Time for a Steven picture...

Here is Steven. He had just gotten home from school. I am usually working on the computer when he gets home, so he grabs a seat and we talk about his day. It just happened this day he was playing his ukelele as we were talking. I cherish these few moments every day to hear what is going on with him - when the house is quiet and it is just the 2 of us. He is getting so big and acting so grown up... I am happy that sometimes in pictures I can still see the little boy in him.

Our little phone chatter...

Jack has been getting a lot of phone calls lately. He and his friend (who have just spent all day together at school) talk about stuff, play webkinz over the speakerphone and who knows? The friend frequently has to go, then calls back 10 minutes later, then has to go, then calls back. It is quite amusing and cute.

2-21-08 ..BIG NEWS!

Ok... I got the call on Wednesday night from my friend that her husband was able to draft Jack onto his AA team! This was BIG as he is playing baseball this year as an 8 year old -and this division is for 9-11 year olds. So Jack was anxiously waiting to hear if he got to move up. He was already asleep, so the next morning Steven and I woke him up with the news that he was drafted into AA!! Here is his response....

The first question he asked is "What team am I on" so I said Mr. Shurtz's team. Then he asked again "What is our team name"
I paused and then told him...............

The Dodgers..... and here was his response....

We are now all over the fact that it is the Dodgers. Steven pointed out that we can still cheer -just say "go team" instead of the team name. As Giants fans -this was the day we dreaded every season as teams were being selected... but we are all so PROUD of Jack and look forward to his team doing well this season!

Really? Iced Coffee from McDonalds?

So after hearing about it for several weeks I finally caved and tried the iced coffee at McDonalds. I was truly surprised at how good it was! Vanilla iced coffee = yummy! Plus it is half the price of Starbucks -for a bigger size. I can sip the drink all day long if I need to. Still a once a week treat -I make my own coffee at home the rest of the time -but wow is all I can say. I never expected that to be the case.

Hotshots...

Some pictures from Steven's hotshots team. He played great this game. They tied the game right at the buzzer when one of his teammates shot a 3 point basket!! It went to overtime and we put up a fight, but they beat us. The season just ended (on 2-28-08) and we didn't win many games... but they learned to work as a team.

2-16-08..Knights of Colombus Free Throw Contest

Steven won the Free Throw contest at our church and moved on to the next round. So
Grandma, Papa, Steven and I were up and at St. Rose by 7:45 a.m. for the contest. Unfortunately, it just wasn't his day and he did not
win. But we went out to breakfast at Denny's after and had a good time.

Heater Woes...2-15-08

So the first guy came out and said the furnace worked fine. Even though it was blowing cold air. He suggested we change the filter, clean the air ducts and maybe replace the thermostat's. All that for 15 minutes and $88. So I called to have the air ducts cleaned and on the 15th the guy came and brought this huge vacuum to my house! They were here about 2 hours and tried to sell me a "furnace cleaning" for $520 since it was dusty, and a UV light to attach that would purify the air in the house for $999! Needless to say, I passed.

2 weeks....

Wow, the last 2 weeks have passed so quickly. I had some difficulty uploading the couple times I tried to post, which I think has been fixed now. We have had the flu and then another flu going through our house too, which needs to end. Plus to be completely honest, rainy, overcast weather makes me a bit depressed. We have been having trouble with our heater. After numerous service calls from various agencies, PG&E finally came out. They diagnosed that our thermostats weren't wired correctly and then had the heat on. For the first time since early December -our heat actually came on and blew hot air!! After 15 minutes, the temperature in my room had jumped 5 degree's. I was so excited, until..... the guy came down and said our furnace was recalled and so he disabled it. The angst of it all really got to me. Our house temperature has been running about 58-60 for almost 6 weeks. Add to that the rain and gray skies, I didn't want to do anything -especially not sit at my computer, freezing.

The good news is now that we've cleared up that the heater is not recalled and it works -now it is 70 degree's outside. Ahhhhhh, the weather I love and wait for. Wonderful, warm but not hot, sunny weather.

So now I will post what has happened in the last 2 weeks... and I will reset my goal for March -to get the post done everyday, whether I can get the pictures to upload or not.
